Our favourite Cats in Twitter
June 29, 2009 by templetons
Last month we started using Twitter to update news of cats staying at the cattery. Some customers embraced it, but the best thing was learning to use it. There are so many interesting things happening. The best discoveries were @sockington and his sister @pennycat (see her live http://www.vimeo.com/4988477), her sense of humour is superb , also @plouffykitty a delicious black and white puss in a sweater.@ayleshamcattery follows them religiously, but there’s so much more.

Hooray for Cat Heat Pads
June 28, 2009 by templetons
Just in time for winter we discovered the Warm*A*Pet low voltage (16V) heat pads. Up to now we had been using hot water bottles on cool nights for old and short haired cats and kittens. Our winters here in the Gold Coast Hinterland are very mild and we get cold nights only occasionally but just in case. The hot water bottles seemed the safest option at the time, no electricity and so no risk of fires or electrocution, but the low voltage heat pads are the ideal solution and the cats love them. They go under the bedding and are very efficient.
New Cat Hammocks
June 27, 2009 by templetons
With winter here and a bit of spare time we’ve done research on cat hammocks that seem to be all the craze. We built a couple of prototypes as shown below, we have the advantage of being able to try them straight away on our guests like Dweezil and Bam-Bam.

The hammocks weren’t 100% successful, some cats will use them and some didn’t and we think it’s because they’re not stable enough to jump on. Working on a new rigid prototype similar to the one below, BTW the one in the middle is our new personal cat ZaZa. Still with mum until August.
