ChiChi the Burmese came out

August 25, 2009 by

ChiChi came out for a walk only the day after arriving, what a brave puss! She told off a few people that were glaring at her from their rooms and had a look out the window at a noisy lark magpie outside. It might be good for dinner, she commented.

Wilson and Henry very friendly also came out for walkies today.  Heat weave continues.

Abyssinians, high strung cats

August 18, 2009 by

After being subdued for a few days upon arriving, Milo is now confident enough to be himself and show what a delicate breed Abyssinians are. Always alert and sometimes pacing like real lions, these beautiful cats need gentle treatment.
Fortunately for us, he never stopped eating and is adjusting to a home away from home. His stay will make him a more confident cat, more used to every day noises that are a part of life.
See how beautiful he is

Taj a beautiful Himalayan cross arrived very calm in his father’s arms. He’s already nibbled on some dry food and spent the afternoon sitting on the lower level (cautious!) of his trampoline bed.

Fonzie and Mocha two of our Devon regulars had a party – as usual – last night: the furniture was upside down; mischievous and beautiful, they add a bit of spice to life at the cattery.

Chloe and Jenna, two other tortoiseshells, went home very happy to see their respective parents.

Andi and Marian ( two relatives on a EU trip) posted this photo of a Greek cat (at Hydra) making the most of tourism.

Milo the Abyssinian

August 9, 2009 by

Yesterday we welcomed Milo, a young Abyssinian that lives alone with mum. Very nervous to begin with – as these cats normally are – we’ll make sure that he calms down and gets more confident to come out for walks inside the cattery and games of football in the corridor.

Isn't Milo beautiful?

Tortoiseshells or Calico Cats

August 8, 2009 by

Meet Jenna a young tortoiseshell that belongs to the small exceptional subgroup of good natured cats. These cats are usually grumpy and Vets are scared of them.

Adorable and playful

We talk from experience, our own tortie Annie – that lived up to 22 and went to heaven last year – was a power to be reckoned with and only mellowed after 17. Very few teeth left helped with the ease of handling but she would still bite, albeit without hurting too much.

She was the dominant cat and made sure Tessie and Brooky , our other two cats,  followed her rules.

Here she is in better days.

Our first Bengal cat guest

July 26, 2009 by

Our first Bengal Jupiter, has gone home. He’s only a kitten, but he will be big. These are beautiful indoor cats because they’re hunters, should never be let out unless on a harness, but I don’t think that would work for long.
